One Word at Springhill

One Word at Springhill

Over the summer, the staff at every school in our district were able to listen to Jimmy Page, author of “One Word”, speak at our welcome back event. Teachers were highly impacted by his message and wanted to take this back to their classrooms and students. Students all over Springhill have been working for a few weeks on developing their “One Word” for the year. The One Word challenge stems from Jimmy Page’s book, where he inspires readers to discover, experience, and live their one word for a year. While the book was written for adults, teachers in the building conveyed the message to their students as they embarked on a year that will be filled with goal-setting and having a growth mindset. In art, Mrs. Glenn allowed students time to reflect, discover their word, and create a masterpiece representing it. Mrs. Uekman’s students shared their words with eachother and the “why” behind them. Students and teachers throughout the building are growing as a result of this reflective and purposeful work. As a building, we are working to achieve our building-wide one word: CHAMPION. We are proud of our staff and students who are always looking ahead and working hard to be the best they can be!
