Dr Sandra Nadelson with the Arkansas Master Gardening Program has been working with the Springhill Elementary’s Gardening Club on Fridays this spring. Students worked with Dr Nadelson to design and create beautfiul landscpaing at the schools entry way. Students conducted research on what plants would work best in the area and then were able to plant them. A grant was written to help with the funding of the plants and other materials. Mrs Berley (3rd grade Science Teacher) and Mrs Uekman (GT Teacher) helped Dr Nadelson and the students with the design and implementation of this project. Students loved being part of the process starting from the very beginning until the finished product. Lily Beth Hill, a fifth grade studen, at Springhill Elementary enjoyed working with Dr Nadelson. She said “Dr Nadelson taught us many new things about gardening.” Lily Beth said her favorite thing about the gardening club...”I enjoyed working with others and getting to know some other students in other grades.” Karson Reynols a fourth grader said “I liked giving my ideas about the design of the landscaping and experiencng the outdoors and seeing how plants grow.”
This is definitely a project that will be loved for many years to come with all of the beautiful landscaping at the entry of Springhill Elementary!
