Friday Fun Clubs have started at Springhill Elementary! We have enjoyed clubs for a couple of weeks now and are looking forward to the months ahead. Students were able to choose their top 4 clubs and then they were assigned a club based on availability. Each student will be able to participate in 3 different clubs throughout the school year. Our teachers came up with the club they would like to help facilitate. Students had many clubs to choose from such as...woodworking, yoga, cheerleading, step it up, sports, karaoke, lego robotics, t-shirt designing just to name a few. Friday Fun Clubs are a vital part of our school culture because not only the students and teachers get to be involved but we have parents wanting to be involved as well. Students get to interact with teachers they may not know as well as other students they may not ever see during the day. Tristan Johnson, a first grader, says “he loves Friday Fun Clubs because it is fun to learn new things.” Teachers also love it because they get to interact with students they may never teach or see during the day. Parents have also become involved by providing materials for some of the clubs as well as volunteering their time on Friday mornings. Derek Gilmer, dad of Ethan Gilmer in 2nd grade, comes on Friday mornings to help with the woodworking club – he helps cut the material, measure the material and help the students design the “perfect creation”. Friday mornings are exciting times around Springhill!!
